A watched pot never boils, or does it?

Benjamin Franklin, celebrating his 307th birthday today, is known for many famous proverbs published in his Poor Richard almanacs, one of which is:

A watched pot never boils.

As a celebrated scientist we know that Franklin did not mean for this to be taken literally since merely watching the pot has absolutely no effect on whether it’s water will boil. Rather this proverb is more poetic conveying the idea that time appears to go more slowly when you’re anxiously waiting for something to happen.

Assuming appropriate heat and water are provided, the opposite of this statement would be:

An unwatched pot always boils.
